Man, oh, man. What a crazy 10 months it has been. Living on the other side of the planet, far away from friends, fam, and comfort foods. I guess you can say I’ve been too busy adjusting to my Korean life to take time out of my schedule and document what has been one of the best years of my life.
Pre New Year’s Resolution: STOP MAKING EXCUSES!
So here I am, living in Busan (부산) – the second largest city in South Korea; often compared to Miami with its mix of high rises and beautiful sandy beaches – wondering where the last 10 months have gone. I think back to the day I said goodbye to my family at the airport, which seems like eons ago. As I boarded the plane I almost missed (thanks, T.O. traffic!) my stomach began to do flips. It took a lot of willpower to get me to this point. The last step was to buckle myself in, entertain myself for 11 hours (i.e. eat, sleep, watch movies, repeat) and begin my new life in South Korea.
I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.
All of that worrying can’t even compare to all the fun I would be having. But of course, you can’t predict how your experience will be and luckily my experience in Korea has been the best and I wouldn’t have changed anything!
From meeting new friends from all around the world, to lesson planning (and becoming a pro in PowerPoint), to traveling in and around Korea – it has truly been a life-changing experience for me. You’ll see why in my upcoming posts.
